On New Year's Day 2012, we had an idea to start a small business. Encouraged by friends and family, that idea turned into Chesapeake Popcorn.
The name Chesapeake comes from the Bay in our home state of Maryland. While the Chesapeake Bay is a tangible thing, our memories of the Bay are what's significant. Years of sailing and vacationing on the Bay are the memories that linger in our minds and in our hearts.
We believe everyone has their own bay of memories.
What's YOUR Bay?
WHAT WE DO
We make delicious sweet and savory popcorn. We start by buying our popping corn directly from a farm that is about 50 miles from us. We use butterfly popping corn which produces a crispy kernel that gives a satisfying crunch, even when coated with caramel. Most commercial popcorn producers use mushroom popping corn which is dense and chewy. Mushroom popcorn rolls more easily in commercial machinery.
Our production area is our home kitchen.
We do everything by hand and our customers love the result.
GIVING BACK
As a small business, we believe in giving back. When you shop for our popcorn, you may notice a slight difference on the Old Fashioned Caramel label. It includes a pink ribbon because we donate a portion of every sale of Old Fashioned Caramel to Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
